The eighth edition of the Syria International Petroleum, Energy and
Mineral Resources Exhibition, SyrPetro 2026, opened in Damascus with
the participation of over 120 companies from 25 countries, reflecting
Syria’s efforts to revive its oil and gas sector and attract new
investment and technology to support economic recovery.
Running through July 10 at the Damascus Fairgrounds, the exhibition serves as a platform for exchanging expertise and showcasing the latest technologies and solutions in oil, gas, energy and related services. It also aims to promote cooperation and build partnerships among companies, experts and institutions operating in the sector.
Industry Leaders Outline New Priorities
Yusuf Qablawi, CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC), said SyrPetro 2026 brings together decision-makers, experts and companies across the oil and energy sector, reflecting a push to establish partnerships supporting long-term development.
He said the exhibition comes at a pivotal time as Syria’s oil and gas sector enters what he described as “a new launch,” focused on rehabilitating infrastructure, improving production efficiency, developing fields and facilities, and creating an investment environment based on transparency and trust.
Qablawi added that SPC is working to develop national resources more efficiently while opening the sector to companies, investors and modern technologies. He said the company is pursuing strategic agreements and launching projects in exploration, production, transport and storage to strengthen prospects for growth and cooperation. According to Qablawi, those efforts reflect growing confidence in investment opportunities within Syria’s energy sector.
Broad Participation Signals Market Interest
This year’s exhibition drew strong participation in both size and scope. Khalaf Mashhadani, director of Mashhadani International Group, said the event is marked by “exceptional momentum reflecting opportunities for recovery and growth in the sector.” He noted the exhibition covers over 10,000 square meters and features over 120 Arab and international companies representing a wide range of specialties in oil, gas, alternative energy and petroleum products.
SyrPetro 2026 also attracted broad participation from Syrian and international companies involved in oil, gas, fuel and support services. Through their exhibits, participants are presenting new projects, development plans and technical solutions designed to support the energy sector while expanding opportunities for cooperation and investment.
Companies Eye Future Opportunities
Representatives of companies specializing in the production and marketing of engine oils said the exhibition provides an opportunity to connect with agents, maintenance centers and spare parts dealers, helping expand distribution networks and establish new partnerships in the Syrian market.
Hassan Ashour, executive director of Chemco Petroleum, told Levant24 that the company’s participation is intended to strengthen communication with local and international firms while exploring new areas of cooperation. He said specialized exhibitions continue to play an important role in attracting investment despite the challenges facing the sector.
Azzam al-Asimi, general manager of Hema Energy Group, told Levant24 the Syrian market remains “promising,” although investment is still in its early stages. He said demand for the equipment and services needed to restore oil and gas production creates significant opportunities for growth and cooperation, not only in the energy sector but also in industries connected to reconstruction and infrastructure.
